MAINE COON COLOURS
Choose Your Favourite
Here are some of the most common colours of Maine Coons that we breed. Kittens can change dramatically as they grow and their coat changes. Click on the colours below to see examples of our kittens and older cats.
BLACK SMOKES
Black Smokes have a dark black face, an undercoat that is white to the skin and a black top coat. Kittens will appear quite different with a mottle patten and usually more brown than black (the brown is their kitten fluff). The kittens face will darken and their silver will develop with age.
BLUE & BLUE SMOKE
Blue Maine Coons are grey coloured with no pattern to their coat.
A Blue smoke will have an undercoat that is white to the skin and a darker grey top coat.
BLACK
Solid pitch black, dark chocolate brown, smoky black are all variation of a Black Maine Coon. Our Blacks change with the seasons - summer (darkest coat) and winter (lightest coloured coat). Our blacks can appear quite smoky but wont be classified as black smokes unless their undercoat is white to the skin.
Black Maine Coons have black noses and toe pads.
BLACK TABBY & SILVER TABBY
Black Tabby Maine Coons are black coloured with white stripes. They will also have white face markings.
A Black Silver Tabby (a smoke tabby) means they have a white undercoat (silver) and a black top coat. They will also have tabby markings with stripes over their legs and body and white face markings.
